Bamboo and a View

A visit to Mitaki-dera Buddhist temple on the western side of Hiroshima turned into an unexpected full day's trip. The grounds have several memorials for the victims of the atomic bomb, and even has a pagoda that was moved from another town after the event to help comfort their souls. The name of this temple means 'three waterfalls' and water, as is commonplace in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, is used as a symbolic offerings to quench the thirst of those many who died after the nuclear explosions seeking water.

On the upper section of the complex there was a trail that passed a bear and boar warning sign. Continuing on, we came across a very large and continuous bamboo forest that crept up the mountain of Mitaki to the very top.
